At Jalal-Abad International University, the curators of the Department of Humanities and Natural Sciences organized a festive event dedicated to Nooruz, one of the most revered spring holidays, for first-year students.

The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Sh.M. Astanov, faculty members of the department, and international students. A meaningful program was prepared for them, aimed at introducing the history, significance, and traditions of celebrating Nooruz. The participants were told about the importance of this holiday as a symbol of the renewal of nature, peace, harmony, and good hopes.

During the meeting, the students were shown a video about the preparation of sumolok, one of the main traditional dishes of Nooruz. The participants also became acquainted with Kyrgyz national dishes, customs, and festive treats reflecting the richness and uniqueness of the national culture.

Particular interest was sparked by the comparison of Nooruz with the Indian holiday Holi. Such a comparison made it possible to highlight the shared values of the two cultures — joy, unity, renewal, and respect for traditions — as well as to note the distinctive features of their national celebrations.

Holding such events plays an important role in fostering respect for national traditions, broadening students’ cultural outlook, and strengthening friendship among representatives of different countries.

Dipak Chaulagain (MD, MS, FMAS, PhD), Associate Professor and Vice Rector for International Relations at Jalal‑Abad International University, has contributed as a co-author to an international academic book titled Fundamentals of Research Methodology: A Practical Approach.

The book has been collaboratively written by an international team of scholars including Purna Chandra Pradhan, Prosper Kwame Klu, Dipak Chaulagain, and Harshitha Y S. It provides a comprehensive and practical guide to research methodology, helping readers understand key concepts such as research design, data collection, analysis, and scientific writing.

Dr. Chaulagain is an active international researcher with more than 50 scientific publications in reputed international journals. In addition to his academic and administrative roles at JAIU, he also serves as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Eurasian Journal of Science and Medical Research (EJSMR), whose official platform is EJSMR (EJSMR.org).

This newly published book is expected to be a valuable academic resource for students, faculty members, and young researchers, providing practical guidance for conducting high-quality research and improving scientific writing skills.

The administration of Jalal‑Abad International University congratulates Dr. Chaulagain and the co-authors on this important academic achievement and believes that the publication will strengthen research culture and academic development within the university and the international academic community.

Jalal-Abad International University (JAIU), Kyrgyz Republic, has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with two medical universities in the Caribbean to strengthen international academic cooperation and promote collaborative opportunities in medical education and research.

The agreements were signed with John F. Kennedy University School of Medicine, Curaçao, and Caribbean Medical University, Curaçao. These partnerships mark an important step in expanding JAIU’s global academic network and fostering international collaboration in the field of medical science.

Under the terms of the Memoranda of Understanding, the institutions will cooperate in several key areas, including:

• Development of joint research projects in medical education and healthcare sciences
• Organization of academic events such as conferences, seminars, symposiums, and training programs
• Exchange of faculty members and specialists for lectures and sharing of best practices
• Student and young doctor mobility programs to enhance international exposure and training opportunities
• Participation in joint grant and competitive research programs

The agreements were signed on February 27, 2026, in Willemstad, Curaçao, with representatives from both partner institutions. These collaborations aim to strengthen academic ties, encourage knowledge exchange, and support innovative research initiatives among the participating universities.

Through these international partnerships, JAIU continues to advance its mission of promoting global academic cooperation, research development, and high-quality medical education for its students and faculty.
